Escape to Fez

Smile ! You are in Fez

The city was founded on a bank of the Jawaher river by IDRISS I in 789. His son, IDRISS II (808), built a settlement on the opposing river bank. These settlements would soon develop into two walled and largely autonomous sites, often in conflict with one another: "Madinat Fas".

Visit the largest souk in Morocco and in Africa. Your official guide will help you visit all the palaces and special historic places here. The handicrafts made in the Medina include bronze and metal work, leather work, ceramics, jewelry. Antique shops and carpet shops are of first quality. Fez was the spiritual and cultural center of Morocco and has multiple facets to explore.

  • Bab Bou Jeloud, "The Blue Gate" of Fez.

  • Panoramic views of the Old Medina.

  • Fountains including the  famous Nejjarine.

  • Medersas (Koranic schools) founded in the medieval era, The Bou Inania Madrasa minaret and others...

  • Batha Palace now a museum of arts and traditions.

  • Chouwara Tanneries.

  • Souks, including Souk Attarine, one of the liveliest in the city.

  • Mellah and the 17th century Aben Dannan synagogue.

Depending on the climate we recommend comfortable walking shoes or sandals, better to dress in layers, for all alleyways in the Medina are covered, and it gets cool within the buildings... for more details please contact us.
